Large group accommodation in Devon

Big houses and cottages across Devon, for a group of eight or more.

Devon's group accommodation clusters around the South Hams. Salcombe, Thurlestone, Hope Cove: an estuary coastline where the houses were built for a crowd with a good number sitting right on the water. If the group chat has settled on "Devon", this is probably the bit of Devon it meant. Finding a house for eight or more is easy. Getting eight people to agree to one is the bit nobody volunteers for. Browse the full set below, save the contenders to a shortlist, and let the group vote without a forty-message detour.

Where in Devon to base a group

Most of the large group accommodation is in South Devon. The estuary belt from Salcombe round to Dartmouth carries far and away the deepest choice: sailing towns, tidal creeks, walkable pubs, and houses sized for the whole group rather than a hopeful squeeze. Salcombe itself has the most, with Thurlestone, Hope Cove and Kingsbridge close by, so the search rarely comes down to a single village. North Devon is the surfing coast, around Woolacombe and Combe Martin, offering beach mornings rather than boat afternoons, with fewer houses up there so it pays to move early. East Devon is quieter again, red cliffs and market towns, and the easiest road access for a group converging from different directions. Wherever you land, the coast is rarely far.

Large holiday homes in Devon with a pool

Large houses with a pool are their own small category, and Devon has a real spread of them, from single houses to a few of the courtyard clusters where every cottage shares one. If a pool is the thing the group won't compromise on, filter for it above and start there.

Large holiday homes in Salcombe and the South Hams

Salcombe holds the most choice of anywhere in Devon: houses on the estuary, boats out front, and the shops and pubs a short walk away. Thurlestone, Hope Cove and Kingsbridge sit close by with more of the same, so the search rarely comes down to a single village.

Dog-friendly large cottages in Devon

Plenty of Devon's large houses welcome dogs. Filter for dog-friendly above to see just those, so there's no scanning the small print later.

Frequently asked questions

Can you rent a large house in Devon with a swimming pool?

Yes. A good number of Devon's large holiday homes come with a pool, and you can filter for it above to see just those. They range from single houses to a handful of cottage clusters built around one.

Is there a house that sleeps 20 with a pool in Devon?

Devon's largest group houses reach around twenty people, and some of the bigger ones have pools, though the two don't always come together. If both matter, there'll be fewer to choose from, so book the one that fits when you find it.

Should a big group stay in North or South Devon?

Most large groups head to South Devon, where the depth of big houses is and where the coast and estuary give you plenty to do without a plan. North Devon is the surf-and-beach side, around Woolacombe and Combe Martin, with fewer houses but a good option if a beach week is the point.

What if our group is too big for one house in Devon?

Some Devon groups outgrow a single front door, and a few places here are set up for it: courtyard clusters and small groups of cottages on one site, where you take several together and everyone still stays in one place. You book each cottage on its own listing, so it's a few bookings rather than one, but nobody's marooned in a different postcode.

Devon or Cornwall for a big group trip?

Genuinely close. Devon's strength is the South Hams estuary belt; Cornwall brings a broader spread of coast and more houses overall. Browse both and let the group argue it out on a shortlist.

How does Flock work, and how do I book?

You book directly with the owner or letting agency, at their price, with nothing added by us. Flock helps with the two hard parts. First, we pull together the houses that genuinely work for a group, so you're not combing through hundreds of sites for the few big enough on each. Second, we give you the tools to get the group off the fence: build a shortlist, share it round so everyone can weigh in, and put dates, destination and budget to a vote in the Flock app. The plan stops living in the chat and actually happens.
