Large holiday homes and cottages in North Wales: where to base a group
The coast is the easy answer for a mixed group. Llandudno, Rhos on Sea and Colwyn Bay run along one stretch of seafront, where the large holiday homes cluster most tightly. Everything is close enough together that nobody needs the car twice in a day, which matters when half the group wants the beach and the other half wants a pub with a roof.
Inland is quieter, and it is where the large cottages are. The Conwy Valley runs south through Llanrwst and Rowen, and the villages around Beddgelert put you properly into Eryri, with the paths going up from there. East of the mountains the Vale of Clwyd is gentler country and an easier run for anyone driving in from the Midlands or the north west. Anglesey sits across the strait with its own beaches and a slower pace, and it is worth a look if the group is heading for the coast anyway.
