Large group accommodation in Cornwall

Big houses on the Cornish coast, for groups of eight people or more.

A big house on the Cornish coast is about as good as a group trip gets: everyone under one roof, a beach down the road, and room to cook, eat and sit up late together. The homes below all take a group of at least eight, most of them a short walk or drive from a beach on the north coast. Plenty welcome dogs and have a log fire for the evenings, so a winter get-together works just as well as a summer week away.

Where in Cornwall to base a group

The north coast and the Camel estuary are the sweet spot for a group. Around Polzeath, Rock and Padstow you have the estuary's calm family beaches, the Camel Trail to cycle and Padstow's food scene on the doorstep. St Ives and Carbis Bay pack galleries, harbour restaurants and town beaches into walking distance, which suits a group that would rather leave the cars parked. A little further round, Port Isaac, Portreath and the beaches near Newquay bring proper surf and the coast path for whoever in the group likes a walk. Wherever you land up here, you are rarely far from a beach, a coastal pub and somewhere to feed a crowd.

Large holiday homes in Cornwall near the beach

Most of these homes are a short walk or a few minutes' drive from a beach, which for a group is half the point of coming to Cornwall, somewhere everyone can spill out to in the morning without a plan. The strongest runs are along the north coast: the Camel estuary around Polzeath and Port Isaac, St Ives Bay, and the surf beaches from Newquay round to Portreath. A smaller set sits on the south coast, and not every home in the county is coastal.

Groups of cottages in Cornwall

If your group is larger than a single house takes, or you would just rather everyone had a bit of their own space, a cluster of cottages can be the better answer. Some spots up here are whole holiday villages where several cottages book together for one big group; others are homes that open up into an adjoining annexe for a few more heads. Either way, each cottage is booked on its own listing, so it is a few bookings rather than one, but the group stays together in one place. And if one roof would do after all, browse our homes that sleep 12 and larger.

Frequently asked questions

Where's the best part of Cornwall for a large group?

Most large group homes sit along the north coast, in three main clusters: around the Camel estuary (Polzeath and Port Isaac), around St Ives Bay, and on the surf coast from Newquay round to Portreath. All three suit groups who want beaches, coastal walks and a pub within reach.

Are the large group homes in Cornwall near a beach?

Most are. The majority sit in coastal towns along the north coast, so a beach is usually a short walk or a few minutes' drive away. A few sit a little inland, a mile or so from the sand, but a beach is rarely far in Cornwall.

What if our group is too big for one house in Cornwall?

A group that outgrows a single house can book a cluster of neighbouring cottages together, or a home that opens up into an adjoining annexe, so everyone still stays in one place. Each cottage is booked on its own listing, so it is a few bookings rather than one.

Can you get a large Cornwall house with a hot tub or pool?

A decent number have a hot tub, and a handful have an outdoor pool, though neither is the rule in Cornwall. If a pool is a must for the trip, take a look at all of our stays with a swimming pool.

How does booking work?

You book directly with the home's owner or agency through the link on each listing, at their price, with nothing added by us. Flock brings together the places that genuinely work for groups and provides the organiser with the tools they need to rally everyone, so whoever found the house is not left herding the group on their own.
