About this property
Wraxall Yard is five restored barns around a shared courtyard garden in Lower Wraxall, in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, designed as a retreat for families including guests with disabilities.
Every cottage is on the ground floor, with a wheelchair-accessible open-plan sitting, kitchen and dining room; Ladymeade, Kittwhistle, Lynchets and Clementine have high ceilings with exposed trusses. Lookout, the largest, sleeps six and has a table for eight; the other four cottages sleep three or four each. For eating together, the communal room seats up to 24 with its own full kitchen and wood burner, but it's only bookable with all five cottages and subject to availability.
From the courtyard, a wheelchair-friendly boardwalk leads through farmland to a riverbank in a Site of Nature Conservation Interest. Dorchester is about 15 minutes' drive, Evershot three and a half miles and Beaminster eight, with three nature reserves, including the Kingcombe Centre, within 10 minutes.
The 21 guests sleep across five individual cottages around a shared courtyard: Lookout sleeps six, Clementine, Lynchets and Kittwhistle four each, and Ladymeade three.

Your group
- The provider can refuse bookings from groups under 21 and from hen or stag parties, and you must say when booking if your group is either.
House rules
- Arrival from 4pm and departure by 10am, unless you're told otherwise.
- Pets: Dogs welcome, a small additional charge
- The number of dogs allowed isn't clear: the listing welcomes one dog per property, marks only Lookout and Kittwhistle 'one dog permitted', and its summary shows 'Dog Friendly: 4'; confirm before booking.
- Barbecues aren't allowed.
- The provider confirms at booking whether dogs are permitted. Dogs must be supervised at all times, never left alone in the property, and kept out of the bedrooms and off the furniture.
- No smoking, including e-cigarettes.
Booking and practical
- EV charging: Charging points in the car park, paid via an app
- Access: Every cottage is on one level, on the ground floor, with a wheelchair-accessible open-plan living space and rise-and-fall kitchen worktops; level paths to each front door, a wheelchair-accessible courtyard and a wheelchair-friendly boardwalk; access specifications differ slightly between cottages
- On request: A hoist and detachable sling for Lookout's twin room, vibrating alarms for deaf and hard-of-hearing guests, and height-adjustable static or wheeled shower seats
- Communal room: A communal room with a full kitchen, tables and chairs for up to 24, a wood burner, an overhead projector and an accessible cloakroom; bookable only when you reserve all five cottages, in advance and subject to availability, so its use isn't guaranteed
- Parking: Plenty of on-site parking in the car park next to the cottages; the listing gives no number of spaces
- Children: Travel cot and highchair on request (bring your own cot linen)
- Charging a vehicle from the property's domestic supply with unauthorised cables isn't allowed.
