About this property
Broughton Hall has been the Tempest family's home for over 900 years and sits within Broughton Sanctuary, a 3,000-acre estate of woodland and countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, about 10 minutes' drive from Skipton. Staff and a house manager are on hand throughout the stay.
The state rooms are on the upper ground floor: a saloon opening into a domed conservatory, a library, red and green drawing rooms, a dining room with an extending table and a billiards room with a full-size table. The saloon, library, drawing rooms and dining room all have open fires. The Red Drawing Room, which has a grand piano, was a film location for Wuthering Heights. Downstairs, wine tastings with the sommelier in the cellar can be booked before arrival.
The conservatory opens onto the formal gardens and the sanctuary's countryside beyond, and the hall has hosted many film and TV shoots, including All Creatures Great and Small. Bolton Abbey is about 15 minutes' drive, Malham about 10 miles, and Leeds Airport 30 miles.
