Rich with family history, Broughton Hall's present owner, Roger Tempest is the 32nd generation, whilst his sister the cartoonist Annie Tempest, has used her childhood home as her inspiration for Country Life's tongue-in-cheek humour, Tottering Hall, headed up by Dick and Daffy and their loyal black Labrador Slobber.

Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Broughton Sanctuary itself has been home to many production companies over the years, hosting numerous shoots throughout the hall and magnificent grounds such as Emily, Gentleman Jack, Ridley Road and of course All Creatures Great and Small as the home of Mrs Pumphrey and her infamous dog Tricki Woo.

Accommodating up to 32 guests in 17 bedrooms, each enjoying striking views of the hall's formal gardens or natural landscape, residences can be sure to relax in one of the breathtaking drawing rooms, complete with stunning chandeliers, open fires and grand piano. The Red Drawing Room was even used as a film location for Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights' starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche.

Each room is perfect for a tailored event or private gathering. The ante-room and billiards room is an ideal social space and has a stunning ornate ceiling, full-size billiards table and Bose iPod dock.

Also on display in this room is a remarkable dolls house made in the 1920s by the current custodian's grand-father from cigar boxes - not one to be played with however you can read about its history and creation whilst admiring every detail captured in miniature.

The staff are wonderful and look after their guests with an expert manner, being discreet yet attentive. There's no need to worry about keeping the fires stoked as there'll always be someone on hand to do that for you, as well as turn down your beds and cater to your every need.

You won't need to lift a finger during your stay with all your meals prepared for you by the Head Chef and his team - enjoy a celebratory meal in the formal dining room or host afternoon in a drawing room of your choice. This can all be arrange and booked prior to your arrival.

The bedrooms are spread over the first and second floors with most offering fabulously spacious en-suite facilities or a separate bathroom close by. Each individually named and furnished creating a unique and relaxing space.

Choose from the 'Oak' bedroom which has a fabulously carved Jacobean four-poster bed, wood-panelled walls and a free-standing copper bath in the en-suite, to 'North' with a grand four-poster bed made by Gillows of Lancaster, and an opulent carpet.

On the second floor is the Penthouse area which has its own grouped together bedrooms and living area complete with Sky TV, Playstation, DVD player and even a record player, with a large selection of films and records for you to choose from.

The dome-crowned conservatory with comfortable seating areas is directly opposite the main entrance across the lobby and floods the hall with natural light, opening out to the formal gardens and acres of countryside to enjoy - a paradise for walkers, nature lovers and not to mention those seeking to immerse themselves fully in Broughton Sanctuary.

Avalon, a leading state-of-the-art purpose-built Wellbeing Centre with pools, therapy rooms and studios, is dedicated to transformational work and the art of being. Guests have the opportunity to book a yoga class, relaxing treatments, workshops or even Forest Bathing and has the additional option to be hired out exclusively for Wellbeing experiences.

Within the grounds of the estate are 19 additional cottages offering further accommodation for your group. They are all within easy reach of Broughton Hall, however each is in the their own private setting within Broughton Sanctuary.
