About this stay

Old Ford House provides superb and flexible accommodation, featuring generous room proportions, and an abundance of period character throughout. A pillared entrance porch opens into the welcoming entrance hall, from which the elegant formal sitting room is accessed.

This beautifully appointed room offers ample seating, a bay window with a window seat, a Minster stone fireplace flanked by built-in bookshelves, an electric fire, and a large Smart TV.

For more intimate relaxation, the cosy snug is perfect for unwinding with a good book or a game of chess, while a separate playroom-furnished with a sofa, chair, beanbags and television offers an additional versatile space for leisure.

The formal dining room is ideal for celebratory meals and memorable gatherings. After dinner, the dining table transforms to reveal a billiard table, providing excellent entertainment. The spacious open-plan main kitchen and breakfast room is well suited to family living, equipped with a gas-fired Aga, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, plus a separate electric oven and gas hob.

The adjoining breakfast area features a large table with seating and a comfortable sitting area with an inglenook fireplace and log burner. A second, highly practical prep kitchen adds further convenience, offering an electric hob, additional fridge and freezer space, a washer/dryer, a table with chairs, and access to the rear staircase leading to the first-floor bedrooms.

A cross trainer and exercise bike sit in the corner of the utility area.

From the main hall, a fine Georgian staircase with a hardwood handrail rises to the long landing, which serves the five generously sized bedrooms. Bedroom one benefits from an en-suite bathroom with shower, while bedroom two includes an en-suite shower room. The remaining three bedrooms are served by two well-appointed family bathrooms, both fitted with showers.

The property is approached via a private lane, with a gated shingle driveway providing extensive parking and turning space at the front of the house. The driveway continues around to a walled courtyard at the rear, complete with a carport. The mature gardens extend to around an acre and include a sheltered paved terrace furnished for outdoor dining-an ideal spot for enjoying al fresco meals in the warmer months.
