About this stay

Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage are both 5* Gold Award winning properties set in the foothills of the North Pennines, one of 40 classified Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England.

Melmerby Hall is a Grade II listed manor house within its own sandstone walled grounds, which are entered through an arched gateway at the edge of the village. The grounds include an archery lawn, walled vegetable gardens and a Victorian castle folly at the foot of the lawn. The forested grounds of 25 acres incorporate a small tributary of the River Eden with picnic area and stone barbecue by the stream.

There is a connecting passage between Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage which has lockable soundproof doors to respect guest privacy.

Stag Cottage is a self-contained 17th century Grade II listed sandstone cottage set in the grounds of Melmerby Hall. It has separate, private, front and rear gardens, parking and entranceway. Carefully restored, it retains its period features such as stone mullion windows and a wood burning inglenook fireplace with complimentary logs, kindling and fire lighters provided.

With private front and rear gardens and a sandstone patio with a Weber barbecue.

Both properties enjoy full access to the 25 acres of woodland grounds and have outstanding walks in the local area as well as being within close proximity to the Lake District National Park and Ullswater. You will also find Kirkbride Hall, sleeping eight guests within the grounds.
