About this property
Blencowe Hall is a Grade I listed fortified manor dating back to the 1400s, with two embattled towers back in use for the first time in more than 300 years. It sits on a bluff above the river Petteril in its own gardens and fields, looking towards the Lakeland fells and across the Eden Valley.
Inside there's oak panelling, ancient masonry and spiral stone staircases. Downstairs are a billiards room, a reception room and a snug, and the Solar, the biggest reception room, takes up the whole first floor of the North Tower, with two stone fireplaces. The formal dining room is at the front of the South Tower, and the kitchen's old inglenook has become a second sitting area, with a two-storey children's hideaway built into the chimney.
There's brown trout fishing in a tributary within the grounds, the C2C cycle route passes through the village, and the Lake District National Park is less than four miles away. Penrith station is about a 10-minute taxi ride.

House rules
- Arrival from 4pm and departure by 10am, unless you're told otherwise.
- Pets: Up to two dogs, small additional charge, kept to the ground floor and off the furniture
- No fireworks, except on 5 November and at New Year.
- No smoking, including e-cigarettes.
- Dogs must be controlled and supervised at all times, never left alone in the property, and kept out of the bedrooms and off the furniture.
