About this property
This is a glamping site of six off-grid safari tents in the walled garden of the Exton Park estate in Rutland, booked here as the whole site. Each tent sleeps six in three bedrooms and has its own shower room and WC with hot running water. Mains electricity is only in the site shop: light comes from rechargeable lanterns, and warmth from a wood-burning stove in each tent, with unlimited wood and hot water bottles provided.
The group lives tent by tent. Each has a living area with a corner sofa, a kitchen with a double gas hob and two cool boxes, a table for six, and a front terrace with a firepit. Cars stay in the designated parking area, and luggage goes to the tents by barrow along a path that can be uneven.
Exton Park is 500 acres of parkland dating from the 12th century, with miles of footpaths and Fort Henry, a gothic folly beside a lake. Rutland Water, with its walking and cycling routes and watersports, is less than three miles away, and Hambleton Bakery is the nearest stop for bread and pastries.
The whole site is six separate safari tents, each sleeping six in three bedrooms, with its own kitchen, living area with a wood-burning stove, and shower room and WC.
It's an off-grid site: light comes from rechargeable portable lanterns, and mains electricity is only in the site shop.

House rules
- Arrival from 4pm and departure by 10am, unless you're told otherwise.
- Pets: Dogs welcome, small additional charge
- The whole-site listing shows four dogs, while the tent layout allows up to four dogs per tent; confirm the dog limit for the whole site before booking.
- Keep noise to a minimum after 9pm, and no music.
- Dogs must be controlled and supervised at all times, never left alone in the property, and kept out of the bedrooms and off the furniture.
- No smoking, including e-cigarettes.
Booking and practical
- When you book the full site, a £500 security deposit is held a few days before your stay and refunded within seven days of departure.
- Late arrivals may be subject to an additional charge; ask before booking.
- Children: Highchairs on request and travel cots for a small additional charge, both subject to availability
- Provided: Towels, rechargeable lanterns and hot water bottles
- Parking: Only in the designated area; cars can't be driven to the tents, barrows are provided for luggage and the path may be uneven
- Firepits: One in front of each tent, with unlimited logs; it may be moved in very dry weather
- Barbecue: Gas, and may be available on a shared basis
